Janell Vela Smith has always called Austin, Texas home. Unlike other girls her age, as a child her father would take her to see boxing and wrestling matches which she found fascinating. A bright and energetic athlete throughout her life, Janell’s academic years centered on her studies and a host of extra curricular activities. She enjoyed everything from baton twirling, cheer-leading and even gymnastics. As a student she took a great interest in art and business as well as geography and world culture. As a result, Janell found herself captivated by the artistic flair and athletic discipline displayed in martial arts films such as "Billy Jack" and "Enter The Dragon."
Janell's passions have led to a career as a Stuntwoman, Actress, Stunt Coordinator and Producer. Janell created Iron Dragon TV Productions to inspire a new generation of content creators while introducing legendary Action content to new audiences. |
Ali Brown is the co-founder of the IDTV Action Festival with Janell Smith. He is a devoted action fan, a lifetime martial artist, and is very excited to help people find the finest action content available!
He is a 7th Degree Master in Tukong Moosul, one of the original instructors for the FightingStunts team, as well as an active fight choreographer. He has been engaged in everything from small zero budget projects, to large budget films such as Sin City in which he trained and helped choreography for Devon Aoki's character. |

Lisa Marie Mejia has loved film her entire life. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Film degree in 2003 and has worked on various productions ever since. She’s ventured into entertainment journalism, first as the Film Section Editor for the online magazine Austin Fusion from 2012 to 2016 and currently as the curator of her own site, The Entertainment Section. In 2014, she worked with Dual Tape Deck on Nowhere to Nowhere and directed her first film with the collective, Saratoga Lights, in 2015. Since 2011, Ms. Mejia has worked alongside Janell Smith at Iron Dragon Production on several productions, including the pilot for The Next Dragon. To make life even more engaging, she is a Braille Transcriber for the Austin school district. A writer at her core, she is currently working on multiple film projects for future development. Lastly, Ms. Mejia is honored to be a part of the Creative Badasses behind IDTVAF. No matter where her career may take her, her love of creativity and expression through art keeps her progressing onward. (photo credit: Go West Photography)

Karla Marie Reina has been in love with film and photography since the day her grandmother gave her her first dinky little point and shoot camera in grade school. She worked on the school paper and yearbook all through middle and high school, later graduating with a degree in Photo Communications from St Edward’s University in 2012. Ms. Reina joined Austin Fusion Magazine that same year as a Photographer until the magazine dissolved in 2016, but still operates as a freelance photographer under Karla Reina Photography. Karla dedicates the month of March for the last 7 years to another love, the SXSW Film-Music-Interactive Festival, where she serves as Photography Shift Lead. Ms. Reina joined this group of IDTVAF Creative Badasses in 2017 and she couldn’t be more excited. When she isn’t working on films or photos, Karla spends her time at her day job as an account manage for a full service digital marketing firm.
