rooster teeth: Animation in Action
Rooster Teeth Animation makes Red vs Blue, the longest running web series of all time, and RWBY, the globally acclaimed animated series that is the first western anime to be exported to Japan. Hear how the team at Rooster Teeth Animation creates these award winning animations, from motion capture to the final upload. Featuring lead creatives from Rooster Teeth Animation: Dustin Matthews (co-lead 3D Animator), Joel Mann (co-lead 3D Animator), Kim Newman (3D Animator) and Melanie Stern (3D Animator).
Lead 3D animator
Graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Joel joined Rooster Teeth in 2014 as an animator on RWBY Volume 2, and has since contributed to RWBY Volumes 3-5, the RWBY Volume 4 Character Short, and Seasons 13 and 14 of Red vs Blue.
Lead 3D animator
Dustin has been at Rooster Teeth since 2012. He has worked mainly on Red vs Blue and RWBY, and on occasion has animated for the 2D teams. Dustin is a graduate of the Art Institute of Dallas. Previous to Rooster Teeth, he animated for such video game franchises as The Sims and Transformers.
Graduate of Ringling College of Art & Design, Kim has been at Rooster Teeth since 2015 and has worked on RWBY Volumes 3-5, the RWBY Volume 4 Character Short, RWBY Chibi Seasons 1 and 2, and Red vs Blue Seasons 14 and 15. Newman focuses mainly on Fight Animation and Motion-capture acting.
Graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design, Class of 2015. Hired by Rooster Teeth in 2015 as an animator to work on dialogue scenes for RWBY Volume 3. Began working on action sequences in the Mercs Trilogy for Red vs Blue and continued to do so for RWBY Volume 4 and future projects.

Seth Lee is a 14 year old actor, originally from Austin TX. He recently appeared as the younger version of Ben Affleck in the Warner Bros film The Accountant. For the film, Seth was able to use his martial arts and stunt training to performhis own stunts and work alongside some of the top stunt choreographers and action director Gavin O’Connor.
Seth has been acting since the age of 7 when a chance meeting with action star Ernie Reyes Jr (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and working with martial arts legend Carmichael Simon, sparkedhis interest in both acting and martial arts and he began his journey diligently studying several martial arts disciplines including getting his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Cinematic Martial Arts.
Seth currently studies martial arts and stunts at XMA World Headquarters under the guidance of Mike Chat, former Blue Power Ranger and coach of such action actors as Taylor Lautner and Jaden Smith.
TJ Storm is an American Action Actor who is a graduate of the Joanne Barron/D. W. Brown Acting Academy. Storm is best known for his acting role as Maginty in Marvel’s Punisher: Warzone, and his motion work as Colossus in Deadpool, and Godzilla in Godzilla (2014). Storm also appears in the reboot of Kickboxer Starring Dave Bautista and Jean Claude Van Damme. As well as the soon to be released supernatural thriller, Taken Over.
Storm is also a Motion capture artist having appeared in many films including: Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War, Ant-Man in Ant-Man as well as various other characters in Green Lantern and Avatar. He has also appeared in countless Video Games in Motion Capture and as a Voice Over.
Storm is also an 8th degree black belt and holds belts in Arashi-Ryu Karate, Shito-Ryu Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Ninjitsu, Jujitsu and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. He is also a 6 time inductee into the Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame.
With over 35 years of martial arts experience, Carmichael Simon has been one of the leading innovators of “Jhoon Rhee’s Martial Arts Ballet™”. He has been very instrumental to the sport by being an ambassador; traveling globally, performing, and evangelizing the philosophies and methods.
Being a prize student and one of the last “Living Legends” taught by Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee, he was able to apply the wisdom and define the standards to sport martial arts as he defied gravity by innovating AcroKicking and incorporated the fusion of soft/hard style performances. He was the first to land a 720 degree hook kick and Stunting Combinations-tricking/acrokicking.
He is a 5-Time International Forms Champion and 3-Time winner of the NASKA Triple Crown Award. A few of his greatest style(s) have been depicted through media as he starred as KID Carmichael on the FOX TV show WMAC Master, LIU KANG on the Mortal Kombat Live Tour, Tommy Base on The Untouchables video game series.
Patricia Vonne is an American singer and actress. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Vonne, moved to New York City in 1990-2001 to pursue her artistic ambitions. She worked extensively in Europe and America and was featured in national/international commercials, and film work.
She formed her own musical band, which performed on the New York circuit from 1998-2001. She then relocated to her native Texas where she currently tours extensively in the U.S., Mexico and Europe. She toured as a member of Tito & Tarantula, the band featured in the film From Dusk Till Dawn in 2002. Her song, "Traeme Paz", is featured in the film Once Upon a Time in Mexico, ”Mudpies and Gasoline" is featured in the Quentin Tarantino presented film Hell Ride.
Along with her impressive music career, Vonne has also ventured into the realm of acting. She has starred in several of her brother Robert Rodriquez’s films including Desperado, Spy Kids, and Machete Kills. Most notable, she played Dallas in both Sin City and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. The character of Dallas has allowed Vonne to explore an entirely different entertainment role, which includes performing her own stunts and comic book conventions.
A talented musician and actress, Patrica Vonne is an empowered woman who can tackle any artist feat.
Steve Wolf has been producing film, TV and live events for 25 years. He is the President of Wolf Stuntworks, and founder of “Science in the Movies,” an organization that teaches physics and chemistry through stunt demonstrations.
His feature film work includes: The Firm, Do the Right Thing, The Last Boy Scout, Hustle & Flow and Cast Away. Steve’s TV credits include work on Law & Order, America's Most Wanted, Rescue 911, and Whitney Houston's music videos. He received an Academy Award for his performance in Palingenesis and directed Bending Light.
Wolf grew up in Geneva, Switzerland, where he took up mountain climbing at 6 and became fluent in French, and in New York City where he learned the meaning of "street smart." He studied communications at Tulane University, and received a B.A. in Writing and Literature with an emphasis on Shakespeare from Columbia University in New York City. He's also a graduate of Meisner Training and the Actors Movement Studio.
A partial list of his career experiences include EMT, Rescue Diver, Scuba Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Private Investigator, Stunt Performer, Stunt Coordinator, Special Effects Coordinator, Camera Consultant, Aerial Rigger, Pyrotechnician, Film Director, TV Producer, TV Host, Inventor, Writer, Publicist, Author, Actor and Pre-School Teacher.
Jake Presley is a rising young star from Nashville, TN. His role as Young Brax in the recent Warner Brother's film, the Accountant, has brought this aspiring actor quite a bit of attention. It was an honor for him to work alongside the director, Gavin O'Connor, and all the prestigious cast members. Jake also had the opportunity to work on the AMC martial arts drama, Into the Badlands. In addition to his acting credits, Jake is a world champion martial artist with several appearances on ESPN2.
Jake Presley is a third degree black belt in Taekwondo with nine years of experience. He started very young, as he wanted to follow in his big brother's foot steps from the time he could walk! He is skilled in traditional and extreme martial arts performance as well as weapons and fighting. Jake thrives on competition which has led him to earn many world champion titles. He continues his martial arts training at his family owned martial arts studio. He loves teaching at the studio while he is at home and also around the world when he is traveling which is another one of his passions. This year his martial arts career has given him the opportunity to travel with Team Paul Mitchell to Ireland and Hungary. Jake is very excited to see where his acting and martial arts may take him next!

Iron Dragon TV ActionFest is an international film festival devoted to the multiple facets of action cinema. A festival that honors the men & women who bring the audience to the edge of their seats with incredible action sequences. IDTVAF understands that it is not only the stars in front of the camera, but the crew behind the scenes that create this magical world, & dedicates the festival to them.
During the days of the festival, the programing will include screening of new films from prominent directors/stars, indie, & the next generation of filmmakers from the action genre. Industry heavyweights will also conduct panels, discussing their specific field & allow a one-on-one type experience with the fans.
Iron Dragon TV ActionFest will bring the exciting world of action films from around the world to the beautiful city of Austin.
